Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday called for initiation of special mechanisms for reducing delays and fast-tracking recruitment process in the paramilitary forces.
Chairing a high-level meeting here to review administrative issues of paramilitary forces that include Central Reserve Police Force, Border Security Force, Central Industrial Security Force, Indo-Tibetan Border Police, Assam Rifles, National Security Guard and Sashastra Seema Bal, he also directed improvements in housing and medical facilities to personnel, especially those serving in the remote and far-flung areas.
He also called for making available at least Rs 1 crore fund from various sources for the families of those personnel who made "supreme sacrifice in the line of active duty".
An official said that Rajnath Singh too stock of the recruitment and promotion procedures of the forces.
Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju, Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba and senior officials of Home Ministry and the paramilitary forces attended the meeting.
