Pakistani border troopers on Wednesday presented sweets and exchanged greetings with Indian border security forces on the occasion of Diwali.

Representatives from Pakistan Rangers presented the sweets to the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at the Wagah border crossing, Dawn online reported.

Despite ceasefire violations and violence in the disputed region, the exchange of sweets between the border guards of two neighbouring countries along the Line of Control on their respective days of national importance has been a recurring feature.

On August 14 last year, Pakistani Rangers exchanged sweets with the BSF to celebrate Pakistan's 68th Independence Day at the India-Pakistan Wagah border post.

However, such an exchange did not take place on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr this year between the Indian soldiers and their Pakistani counterparts.

Relations between Pakistan and India are at their lowest, with allegations of ceasefire violations and involvement in terrorism from both sides.
