Actress Raveena Tandon has been felicitated for her contribution towards empowerment of the girl child by the Festival of Globe (FOG) in Silicon Valley, San Francisco.
FOG is an annual event held to empower and integrate global cultures and communities through Film Arts, Performing Arts, Visual Arts and Folk Arts. This year, FOG had taken up the cause of Empowering Youth to fight Sex Crimes.
An actor, producer, columnist and a former model, Raveena adopted two girls when she was just 21. She has since actively been involved in many initiatives associated with motherhood and women's rights.
"It gives me immense pleasure to receive this award. I am proud to join hands with Festival of Globe in their fight against sex crimes and their drive for empowering youth towards a brighter tomorrow," said Raveena, whose next release is Ashtar Sayed's "The Mother", written and produced by Michael Pellico.
Sayed said: "I am thrilled for Raveena and on behalf of the team of 'The Mother', I've also congratulated Raveena and acknowledged her social work specifically aimed at saving the girl child."
