Two motorbike-borne duo snatched a bag containing Rs. 20 lakh in cash on Tuesday from a realtor's car on the city's outskirts, police said.

"The incident occurred when realtor Gangaraju asked his driver to stop car near Rajankunte bus stop in the northern suburb to have fruit juice, leaving the cash bag in the rear seat of his car. While they were sipping fresh juice, the duo broke the car's window, grabbed the bag and sped away even before the former could see what was happening to his car," a police official said.

The realtor, who hails from Doddaballapur, 36 km from Bengaluru, withdraw Rs. 45 lakh from Cauvery Grameena Bank in two installments of Rs.30 lakh and Rs.15 lakh, as the rural bank did not have enough cash in its safe to pay him at one-time.

"We have registered a theft case after Gangaraju filed a complaint narrating the sequence of the robbery, as the bank asked him to wait till cash came to pay the balance Rs.15 lakh," police said.

Waiting for the remaining cash from the bank, the realtor called two of his creditors to the spot and paid them Rs. 10 lakh each and bought a bag to keep the remaining Rs.5 lakh in it. After getting the second installment (Rs.15 lakh), he kept that cash in the same bag he had Rs.5 lakh earlier.

"We suspect that the unidentified accused had followed the victim from the bank or in the know of the realtor withdrawing cash from the bank," the police inspector said.

A massive hunt has been launched and police stations and check posts were alerted to trace the culprit at the earliest.
