A rebel legislator from Bihar's ruling Janata Dal-United (JD-U), suspended from the party for six years, on Thursday joined the BJP.
Rajiv Ranjan, a spokesperson of Hindustani Awam Morcha of former chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, formally joined the Bharatiya Janata Party and will contest the coming assembly polls as the saffron party's candidate.
Ranjan is legislator from Islampur assembly seat in Nalanda, the home district of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
Last year, the JD-U suspended him for involvement in "anti-party activities".
According to BJP leaders here, some more rebel JD-U legislators will join the BJP in coming days.
