Rebels shot down a Syrian warplane in a desert area in southern Syria on Tuesday, a monitor group reported.
The rebels of Jaidh Usud al-Sharqiyeh, or the Army of Eastern Lions, which are active in the Syrian desert, targeted the warplane over an area between Sweida province and Damascus, Xinhua news agency cited the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights as saying.
The area is near a cease-fire zone agreed upon recently between Russia and the US in southern Syria.
There has been no immediate response from Damascus about the incident.
