Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Yashwant Sinha Saturday wrote to Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar asking her to reject the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) report on 2G spectrum allocation.

Sinha, in his letter written Saturday, said JPC chairman P.C. Chacko "blatantly violated" rules in framing the report, and urged its rejection.

"My request to you, therefore, is to reject the report even at this late stage in order to ensure that no permanent damage is done to the institution of JPC, parliament itself and to the parliamentary system of democracy in our country," Sinha said.

Six BJP leaders who were memebers of the JPC -- Jaswant Singh, Gopinath Munde, Harin Pathak, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Dharmendra Pradhan and Sinha -- had alleged that the committee's meeting of Sep 27 was a "farce".

The BJP leaders have also given a dissent note on the panel's report.

"We apprehended that the chairman might edit and mutilate our note of dissent," Sinha said.

He also said on Oct 25, he got a letter from the JPC secretariat informing him that the opposition's dissent note had been deleted.
