Reliance Power net profit up 16 percent in Q4

Anil Ambani-led Reliance Power said on Friday it posted 15.80 percent increase in its consolidated net profit in 2015-16's fourth quarter ending March 31, at Rs.320.16 crore compared to Rs.276.47 crore in the corresponding period in 2014-15.

In a stock market filing, the company said that the net profit increased on account of higher power generation in 2015-16.

Its consolidated total income has increased from Rs.1,680.77 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2015 to Rs.2,653.16 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2016, while consolidated net profit for 2015-16 increased to Rs.1,361.94 crore as compared to Rs.1,028.32 crore for 2014-15. Its consolidated total income has increased from Rs.7,202 crore for the year ended March 31, 2015 to Rs.1,1038.50 crore for the year ended March 31, 2016.

The power generation and coal resources company has the largest portfolio of power projects in the private sector, based on coal, gas, hydro and renewable energy, with an operating portfolio of 5,945 MW.

Its 3,960 MW Sasan ultra mega power project (UMPP) in Madhya Pradesh generated 31,261 million units operating at availability of 90 percent while the captive coal mines of Sasan UMPP produced 17.02 million tonnes of coal, highest among the private sector players in the country, the company said in a statement.

"1,200 MW Rosa power plant in Uttar Pradesh generated 7,060 million units operating at availability of 93 percent while the 600 MW Butibori power plant in Maharashtra generated 4,022 million units operating at availability of 97 percent," it said.

The 40 MW Dhursar solar power plant in Rajasthan generated 68 million units operating at availability of 99 percent and the 45 MW wind capacity in Vashpet, Maharashtra generated 79.3 million units operating at availability of 97 percent.

"The 100 MW concentrated solar power project in Dhursar, Rajasthan, achieved peak load of 111 MW during the year," it added.

The stock of Reliance Power closed 7.51 percent or 3.65 points up at Rs.52.25 apiece on Friday on the BSE.
