Filmmaker Zaigham Imam, who is gearing up for the release of his upcoming movie "Nakkash", says nowadays renowned filmmakers only want to make typical commercial films.

His own film "Nakkash" is a socio-political drama shot against the backdrop of Varanasi.

Asked if he feels that not many filmmakers make movies based on the political and social situation of the country, Imam told the media here: "I have a complaint with today's renowned filmmakers because they talk a lot on Twitter and Facebook, but when it comes to making cinema, then they make those typical commercial films.

"I have also worked as a journalist and I think a journalist's work is to write about good and bad things of the society. So, I feel if a filmmaker wants to tell a good story and if there is certain amount of risk telling that story, then also, he should tell that story because it is necessary to tell important stories which affect our lives."

There is a buzz that "Nakkash" is based on Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. In the film, there is a character named Vedanti played by actor Kumud Mishra, and the character's get-up resembles that of Yogi Adityanath.

Imam commented: "Kumud Mishra is playing the character of the trustee of a temple and he is not representing Yogi Adityanath in the movie. I feel the character's look in the film resembles with Yogi Adityanath's look. It is not biopic on his life but people have started speculations about it.
