Argentine club River Plate took the lead in Group D in the Copa Libertadores football tournament with 12 points after a scoreless draw against Brazilian outfit Flamengo.
Neither the Argentine nor the Brazilian teams managed to score and at the end of Wednesday's game the home team stood at 12 points and the visitors at 10, reports EFE news agency.
Led by Lucas Pratto, Ignacio Scocco, Enzo Perez and Ignacio Fernandez, the River Plate played an attacking game.
Flamengo, although showing great control of the ball, lacked the strength to find River Plate's net, which was defended by Franco Armani.
In the second half, despite the entry of Ariel Rojas, Rafael Santos Borre and Rodrigo Mora, the River Plate still could not manage to make the first score.
For Flamengo, the absence of a striker such as Paolo Guerrero was compensated by good control of the ball by Lucas Paqueta, Everton Ribeiro and Vinicius Jr, but the home team held their Brazilian rival at bay.
