River tragedy: Telangana home minister leaves for Himachal

Telangana Home Minister N. Narasimha Reddy has left for Himachal Pradesh to monitor rescue and relief operations of students who went missing in a river following a flash-flood.

The minister reached New Delhi, from where he will fly to Kullu to personally see the rescue operations for 24 students of a Hyderabad-based engineering college.

Information Technology Minister K. Tarakarama Rao said they received information that the authorities in Himachal recovered three bodies.

He said a control room was opened in the office of Hyderabad district collector to provide information about the tragedy.

"The government will make necessary arrangements to take parents of the missing children to Himachal Pradesh. We will also arrange a flight to bring the bodies of the students," he said.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has also offered to send the parents of the missing students to Himachal by a special flight.

Naidu reviewed the situation arising out of the tragedy. He directed cabinet minister Narayana and IAS official Satish Chandra to go to Himachal to monitor rescue and relief work.
