A roadside bomb struck a military vehicle in the southern Afghanistan province of Uruzgan Wednesday, killing an Afghan soldier and injuring another, an official said.
"A mine planted by militants struck a military vehicle in Kakrak area outside provincial capital Trinkot around 9 a.m. today, leaving an Afghan solider dead and injuring another," Xinhua quoted a senior police officer in the province, Gulab Khan, as telling reporters.
Taliban militants who are largely relying on suicide and roadside bombings were yet to claim responsibility.
