Capital football club Roma on Saturday denied media reports that Serie A champions Juventus have agreed to buy Bosnian midfielder Miralem Pjanic.

The claim emerged from Mediaset this morning, suggesting Juventus had paid the 38 million euro (around $42.9 million) release clause in the 26-year-old's contract with the Rome-based club.

"AS Roma denies today's report on sportmediaset.it concerning an alleged payment of the buy-out clause in Miralem Pjanic's contract as the story is completely groundless," read a statement on the club website.

If a club was to pay the 38 million euro release clause, then it would be up to Pjanic to decide whether or not to agree personal terms.

Considering the Bosnian international's quality and experience, the transfer fee seems entirely affordable in today's football market.

Clubs known to be interested in Pjanic include European elites like Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Manchester United.
