Rome, Feb 24 (IANS/AKI) Rome's anti-establishment Mayor Virginia Raggi was on Friday admitted to hospital for tests after reportedly feeling unwell.
She was taken to the emergency room at Rome's San Filippo Neri hospital, which is near her home.
Raggi will not attend a meeting at city hall later on Friday where she had been due to unveil a new proposal on a vexed project to build a new AS Roma soccer stadium in the capital.
The 38-year-old lawyer was elected as Rome's Mayor in a landslide victory last June pledging to rid the city of graft and fix its chronic garbage problem, creaking public transport system and crumbling infrastructure.
But since Raggi took office, her administration has been bedevilled by a series of scandals, acrimonious resignations and its officials dogged by judicial woes.
