In an interview with FIFA, Ronaldo said that his aim was to fulfil his current contract with Real Madrid, but at the same time he refused to rule out moving to another club once his deal runs out.

The interview comes at an interesting time for Real Madrid, who produced a torpid display without the suspended forward to only draw 0-0 away to bottom of the table Osasuna Saturday night, Xinhua reports.

That result was followed by a poll in Spanish sports paper, Diario AS in which 70 percent of those asked said it was a priority for club president, Florentino Perez, to assure Ronaldo signs an extension to his current deal.

With Perez up for re-election in the summer, that will become a priority, but Ronaldo's interview will make worrying reading for the Real Madrid president and fans.

"I want to finish my contract at Real Madrid. I am clear about that, but I don't know what is going to happen afterwards," said Ronaldo.

Ronaldo has the same representative (Jorge Mendes) as Madrid coach Jose Mourinho and spoke to defend Mourinho against the current criticism he has received as his side has slipped to 18 points behind Barcelona in the La Liga table.

"I am certain that Mourinho always wants the best for the club and I will defend him to the end. All of us who are at his side know that. I think he is the best coach in the world, he has a lot of experience and he has won everything," said Ronaldo

One trophy Mourinho has won with Porto and Inter Milan is the Champions League and that European trophy is now Madrid's main aim for the current season.

"All Madrid fans want to win it for the 10th time, we all know that. Last year we fell at the last hurdle (semifinals against Bayern Munich) and it was frustrating, but we have the chance for revenge this season, although we have to play Manchester United. I think we have more pressure than Manchester United and I think it is because the club is concentrated to win the tenth Champions League. That creates certain nerves and you can feel it an every moment," said Ronaldo, who said he thought the last 16 tie between Real Madrid and Manchester United in February had no clear favourite.
