Newly-appointed captain Wayne Rooney scored a penalty to give England a 1-0 win over Norway in an international football friendly at Wembley here.
The Manchester United skipper, who failed to have a shot at goal in the first half, delivered a powerful penalty kick in the 68th minute, after Raheem Sterling was fouled in the box by Omar Elabdellaoui Wednesday night, reports Xinhua.
Roy Hodgson's side, who were playing their first game after being eliminated in the group stage in the Brazil World Cup, had only two shots on target during 90 minutes in front of a crowd of 40,181, the lowest for an England game since Wembley reopened in 2007.
It was also a warm-up match for England for their 2016 European Championship qualifying campaign, which kicks off Monday in Basel against Switzerland.
