Royal couple remembers 26/11 victims

Britain's Prince Charles and his wife Camilla Saturday paid floral tributes to the victims of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks at the Hotel Taj Mahal Palace, officials said.

The royal couple laid a wreath at the memorial in the hotel in the presence of Tata Group chairman emeritus Ratan Tata and Tata Group chairman Cyrus Mistry.

On a hectic day, Prince Charles met senior Indian corporate heads at a roundtable discussion on corporate social responsibility.

Among those present were Piramal Group's chief Swati Piramal, ICICI Bank's Chanda Kochhar and Mahindra & Mahindra's Anand Mahindra.

Later, Prince Charles went to the Soonabai Pirojsha Godrej Marine Ecology Centre in Vikhroli, northeast Mumbai.

He took a tour of a medicinal herbs reserve and a boat ride in the area, which is bordered by rich mangroves.

Later Saturday evening, Prince Charles will be present at the launch of the British Asian Trust Advisory Council with its chairman and business tycoon Mukesh Ambani.

On the occasion, three charities which have benefitted through the Trust's help will be given awards.

They are: "Aangan", whose Project Shakti encourages vulnerable girls to realise their rights and gain access to services like education and healthcare, "Educate Girls" which helps improve quality and access to education for young girls in rural Rajasthan and "Mann Deshi", which is the country's first business school for illiterate rural women.

He will also attend a gala dinner here with a Bollywood flavour, which will see top film personalities participating.

The visiting royal couple will attend a Remembrance Day service at the St. John the Evangelist Church in Mumbai and also interact with war veterans Sunday.

Later Sunday, they will visit Pune, and attend another Remembrance Day event at the Commonwealth War Graves Commission's Kirkee Cemetery there.

They will visit the Serum Institute of India and also attend a function at the Royal Western India Turf Club in Pune.
