The Border Security Force (BSF) recovered counterfeit Indian currency with a face value of Rs.13,99,500 near the Indo-Bangladesh border, an official said Friday.
The BSF official said the seizure was made in Malda in West Bengal Tuesday morning.
"The recovered fake currency was in the denomination of Rs.1,000 and Rs.500. Wrapped in polythene sheets and kept under a culvert pipe, it was placed there by Bangladeshi smugglers for circulation in India," the official added.
