Uttar Pradesh's ruling Samajwadi Party on Friday expelled for "anti-party activities" two youth leaders known to be close to Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.

Anand Bhadauria and Sunil Yadav 'Sajan' reportedly worked against party candidates during the recently concluded Panchayat elections. Both were former presidents of the party's youth wing - Samajwadi Yuvjan Sabha.

Party sources said the leadership was determined to send out a message that indiscipline won't be tolerated in the party.
