Samsung keen to up investment in 4G market in India: Prasad

Communications Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad Friday said Samsung is keen on India's fourth generation (4G) mobile market and wants to increase investment in the sector.

"Met CEO (chief executive officer) of Samsung, discussed NOFN (National Optical Fibre Network) and smart city projects. They are keen on India's 4G mobile market. Want to increase investment," Prasad tweeted Friday from Seoul.

Samsung is already supplying 4G telecom equipments to Reliance Jio Infocomm, which is planning to launch its LTE services in 2015 in India.

The minister also tweeted that he met LG Electronics CEO Bon Joon Koo and shared Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of Digital India and Make in India.

Modi in his Independence Day address to the nation Aug 15 envisaged a Rs.1 lakh crore project to transform the country into a digitally empowered and connected knowledge economy.
