Former West Bengal police chief Rajat Majumdar Saturday appeared before the CBI after being summoned by the agency in connection with the multi-crore rupee Saradha scam.
The former director general of police, who worked as security advisor for the tainted company, was called for interrogation following a search of his residence Aug 14 in which several documents were seized by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sleuths.
The Indian Police Service officer was accused by suspended Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha member Kunal Ghosh who is now behind bars for his alleged complicity in the scandal.
Ghosh claimed that Majumdar took several crores of rupees as the key organiser of the Saradha-sponsored 'Banga Sammelan', a three-day programme by non-resident Bengalis in Las Vegas in 2012.
Majumdar, who also served as a poll observer for the Trinamool in Birbhum for the panchayat election in 2013, has rubbished the allegations.
"All the allegations are false," Majumdar said while entering the CBI office here Saturday.
