Saudi Arabia on Sunday said its health control centres vaccinated more than 1.1 million pilgrims at ports of entry, the media reported.
The Health Ministry said 804,237 pilgrims were vaccinated against meningitis, 236,569 against polio and 97,705 pilgrims vaccinated against yellow fever until Friday, Xinhua news agency reported.
The vaccination programme is part of steps taken to prevent the spread of contagious and epidemic diseases that could lead to catastrophic results with the expected arrival of more than two million pilgrims from all over the world to perform Haj in Mecca this year.
