Savour Bengali dishes at food fest in capital

Enliven your taste buds with delicacies like pabda macher jhal (hot and spicy fish) and chingri macher malai curry (prawns in coconut milk) at a 10-day Bengali Food Festival at Mist in The Park Hotel here.

In tune with the festive season, the event begins here Friday. Choose from a lunch or a dinner buffet.

"October is filled with lively energy and excitement in India. The festive season has just begun and the shopping, family dos, parties are all in full swing. So we at The Park wanted to add the zing to the celebrations with a delicious spread of West Bengal cuisine," Abhishek Basu, executive chef, The Park, told IANS.

"This is definitely the perfect time of the year to present to the city unforgettable flavours of Bengal and light up the city with our choicest food," he said referring to Dussehra.

The spread includes counter savouries such as bhaja beguni, piyaji, (batter fried aubergines and onions) and keema ghugni (hand chopped mutton mince with green peas).

The main course includes dishes like chingri macher malai curry, pabda macher jhal, Ilish mach bhape, Rui macher kalia, Rohu fish masala, Kosha mangsho, posto murgi, dhokar dalna, cholar dal narkel diye, phoolkopir kancha moong dal, aloo posto and mishti pulao.

Round off your buffet meal with date jaggery rice kheer, patishapta, coconut stuffed pancakes, cheese jalebis and the good old favourite, mishti doi.

Cost per person: Rs.1,300 exclusive of taxes

Lunch Timings: 12 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Dinner Timings: 7:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.
