The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed a PIL seeking an end to the burning of the effigy of Ravana during Dussehra festival, saying everyone has a right to practise what one feels good for his faith.
"We have no jurisdiction to go into what is good or bad. We go into what is legal and what is illegal. You do what you feel is good for your faith and let others do what is good for their faith," said Chief Justice Jagdish Singh Khehar.
Besides the religious dimension, the petitioner had also contended that the practice of burning effigy of Ravana on Dussehra was harmful to the environment.
