The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed the Odisha government's appeal challenging the Orissa High Court's verdict that quashed a vigilance probe against former state police chief Prakash Mishra.

The high court on June 19 quashed the vigilance case against former director general of police Mishra, who is now the director general of the Central Reserve Police Force.

The state vigilance department had filed an FIR against Mishra for favouring some suppliers during his tenure as the CMD of Odisha Police Housing and Welfare Corporation between 2006-07 and 2009-10.

Mishra had challenged this move in the high court seeking quashing of the case.

On August 13, the state government filed a special leave petition in the apex court challenging the high court order.

Reacting to Monday's ruling, Mishra said: "I am happy that the apex court absolved me and proved me innocent. I am grateful to all for their moral support,"
