The Supreme Court, while holding there was no provision to derecognise a political party indulging in violence, will hear next Monday a PIL seeking action against the MNS for alleged involvement in attacks against non-Maharashtrians and public property including toll plazas.

A bench of Chief Justice P.Sathasivam and Justice Ranjan Gogoi Monday wondered how could it direct the derecognition of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) merely because they were allegedly indulging into violent acts.

Adjourning the hearing till next Monday when a similar plea too would come up for hearing, the court asked the PIL petitioner Mithilesh Kumar Pandey to place before it the provisions of statute by which it could issue direction to Election Commission to proceed against the MNS headed by Raj Thackeray.
