A senior postal department officer died at his official residence in Chandigarh under mysterious circumstances Wednesday, police said.
Chief Post Master General K.L. Khanna, 57, the region's senior-most postal department officer, was declared dead by doctors at a government hospital here where he was rushed from his Sector 30 residence. Doctors said he died of head injuries.
Police officials said the officer is suspected to have suffered a fall at his residence and sustained head injuries as his head hit a table.
His son, Gaurav, was at home when the incident occurred.
The police were called and they took the officer to hospital.
"We are looking into all aspects to know what caused his death," a senior Chandigarh police officer said.
