A day after it lost over 300 points, a benchmark index of the Indian equities markets, the 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex), provisionally closed in the red on Tuesday -- down 112 points or 0.41 percent.
The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) also provisionally closed in the negative zone. It was down 31 points or 0.37 percent at 8,339.35 points.
The Sensex of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 27,633.66 points, closed the day's trade at 27,531.41 points (at 3.30 p.m.), down 112.47 points or 0.41 percent from the previous day's close at 27,643.88 points.
The Sensex touched a high of 27,675.94 points and a low of 27,473.54 points in the intra-day trade.
