A series of stamps depicting the entire environmental profile of the country would be launched soon, Communications Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said on Thursday.
Speaking at the release of a commemorative stamp to mark the centenary year of Zoological Survey of India here, he said that the Department of Posts will bring out stamps for daily use and has already brought out a series of stamps on flora and fauna, classical musicians, revolutionaries of India, an official statement said.A
Union Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Prakash Javadekar, who was also present, urged scientists of Zoological Survey to reach out to the students to motivate them and create more interest among them in basic sciences.
"Basic and fundamental sciences are important and lead to newer research," he said.
The ministers had also released publications of Zoological Survey of India - the "Centenary Souvenir", the "Centenary Directory" and "A Glorious 100".
