Seven Taliban militants were killed and five injured during a number of security operations carried out across Afghanistan since Saturday, the interior ministry said in a statement Sunday.
The operations, launched by Afghan police and backed by the army, were conducted in provinces of Logar, Paktia, Ghor, Helmand, Kandahar, and Nimroz provinces, Xinhua reported. Eight rebels were also captured during these operations.
The Taliban did not make any immediate comment on the deaths.
