Sex determination test gang busted in Haryana

The Haryana Police have busted a gang which used to lure women from the state for sex determination tests in neighbouring Uttar Pradesh and arrested seven persons, including three gang members, two women who opted for the tests and their husbands, officials said here on Friday.

The gang used to lure women from Kurukshetra in Haryana to nearby districts to Uttar Pradesh (UP) for getting the sex determination tests done, a police department spokesman said on Friday.

Those arrested include Kewal Kishore, a resident of Daya Nagar, Karnal; Yogesh, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, car driver; Anil, a resident of Rohtak; women Suman and Mukesh, residents of Kharak Pandwa, and their husbands Rishipal and Satish.

"Police received the information that some persons were coming to Kurukshetra in a car and on a motorcycle after getting conducted sex determination test done in UP. Acting swiftly on the tip-off, olice, along with a team of the health department, laid a trap and arrested the accused," the spokesman said.

During interrogation, Kishore said that he, along with Yogesh, used to take patients from Kurukshetra and nearby districts to a doctor in Uttar Pradesh's Saharanpur for conducting sex determination tests.

"Police recovered eight Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP) kits from Kewal Kishore, two kits from Yogesh and impounded the car and the motorcycle," the spokesman said.

Police have booked the accused. Further investigations are on.
