Over 1,100 pilgrims, mostly Sikhs, left for Pakistan on Friday for Gurpurab celebrations.

The jatha, including 924 who are part of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) list, left for Pakistan's Lahore city on three special trains from Attari, 30 km from here, the last village on the Indian side.

The pilgrims will visit various religious shrines in Pakistan, particularly Nankana Sahib, the birth place of Sikhism founder, Guru Nanak Dev.

Gurpurab, the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, falls on November 25.
