Indian golfer Shiv Kapur scored two-under 70 to finish joint 13th after his first round, while Anirban Lahiri and Jeev Milkha Singh scored identical par-72s to share the 33rd position in the BMW PGA Championship here on Thursday.
Shiv scored six birdies on the fourth, 10th, 12th, 14th, 16th and 17th holes at the Wentworth Club. His round could have been better had he not taken seven shots to clear the par-four 13th hole. The 33-year-old also dropped a shot on the third hole.
World No.41 Lahiri had an inconsistent first nine with a birdie on the third hole that was undone by a bogey on the fifth. But another bogey on the seventh multiplied his problem in the first nine holes.
He started the back nine with three par efforts but he dropped a shot on the 13th that put him at two-over. However, he settled down for a par-72 round as he birdied the final three holes.
Lahiri's senior, Jeev scored two birdies, an eagle on the par-five fourth against three bogeys to get a 72 in the first round.
Another Indian, S.S.P. Chawrasia scored one-over 73 to take the joint 63rd spot.
Sweden's Robert Karlsson fired five-under 67 to hold a one-shot lead over Jorge Campillo, Chris Wood, Miguel Angel Jiminez and Y.E. Yang.
