The upcoming film "Shorgul" has received a clearance from the censor board and has got a U/A certificate.
"We are happy that censor board gave us a U/A certificate and this can reach the masses," Samira Kelkar, CEO 24FPS Films Production, said in a statement.
The film has received a clearance from the censor board inspite of the film touching upon sensitive issues such as Muzaffarnagar, Godhra and Babri Masjid riots. The film will bring to life real-time political scams of controversial high-profile dignitaries that rocked the nation.
The film, which is directed by Jitendra Tiwari and Prashant V Singh, is set in the background of Uttar Pradesh and stars Jimmy Shergill, Hiten Tejwani, Eijaz Khan, Ashutosh Rana and Sanjay Suri in the lead.
Jimmy Shergill will play Sangeet Som, Sanjay Suri will play Akhilesh Yadav and Narendra Jha will play Azam Khan. Interestingly, the characters in the film also have the same onscreen names with a slight alteration for instance -- Ranjit Soam, Mithilesh Yadav, Aalim Khan.
