The Madhya Pradesh government is to establish 'Shramoday' schools in the state to provide private school-like education to the children of labourers free of cost, officials said on Monday.
These schools, being constructed in Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior and Jabalpur will provide for the education, residence, food, books and sports facilities of about 4,480 students, just like in any other private institution.
The students in these schools will avail of all these facilities free of cost, officials said.
The entrance test will be a written examination which can only be taken by the children of labourers.
The Shramoday schools will be affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). In each school, children of 1,120 labourers will be educated in all subjects, in English and Hindi, from Class six to 12.
