Indian shuttler Ajay Jayaram earned an impressive win to enter the men's singles quarterfinals of the $600,000 Korea Open Superseries at the S.K. Handball Stadium here on Thursday.
However, it was the end of the road for double-World Championship bronze medallist P.V. Sindhu, who suffered a straight games exit, losing to Japanese Sayaka Takahashi.
The 20-year-old Indian, who defeated former World Champion Ratchanok Intanon in the first round, lost her women's singles second round 16-21, 13-21 in 32 minutes to Sayaka. This was Sayaka's second win over the Hyderabadi in three meetings.
Jayaram, on the other hand, had a contrasting victory over Hong Kong's Wong Wing Ki Vincent in 53 minutes.
The Mumbaikar won 17-21, 21-15, 21-15 in 53 minutes and will play against the winner of the match between Japan's Sho Sasaki and Indonesia's Christie Jonatan on Friday.
This was also Jayaram's second win in three outings against Wong.
