Indian shuttler Anand Pawar failed to reach the men's singles main draw of the $275,000 Japan Open Superseries following his loss in the first round of the qualifiers at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium here on Tuesday.
Japan's Kanta Tsuneyama beat Mumbai's Pawar 22-20, 21-18 in 50 minutes.
Earlier, the Japanese pair of Yuta Watanabe and Arisa Higashino took care of Tarun Kona and N. Sikki Reddy 21-9, 13-21, 21-19 in 44 minutes.
The main draw of the tournament starts on Wednesday.
