Indian shuttlers Arun George and Rituparna Das progressed to the second round after winning their respective matches at the BWF World Junior Championships here Tuesday.
Arun beat American Nicholas Robert Henson Waller 21-17, 21-14 in 24 minutes in the men's singles clash while Rituparna overcame Russian Ekaterina Kut 21-4, 21-6 in 18 minutes in her women's singles first round.
However, it was the end of challenge for Reshma Karthik who lost to Yu Chieh Cheng of Chinese Taipei in her first round women's singles tie. Yu beat Reshma 17-21, 21-14, 21-12 in 46 minutes.
S. Poorvisha Ram had a fantastic outing in the Thailand capital as she won both her women's and mixed doubles first round clashes.
In women's doubles, J. Meghana and Poorvisha took care of Hong Kong combine Tsz Kei Chan and King Ling Chow 21-16, 21-17 in 19 minutes before Santosh Ravuri and Poorvisha drubbed US pair Roberto Zeng and Alena Yuan Wang 21-11, 21-8 also in 19 minutes in the mixed doubles tie.
However, Chinese Taipei's Hao Yun Wen and Jing Ya Ye easily beat K.P. Sruthi and Farha Mather 21-12, 21-10 in 17 minutes in another women's doubles match.
