Singapore Slammers were crowned champions of the second edition of the International Premier Tennis League (IPTL) after beating title holders Indian Aces 26-21 here on Sunday.
Slammers were put ahead by Carlos Moya when he downed Fabrice Santoro 6-4 in the men's legends match. Belinda Bencic increased the lead by one when she beat Svetlana Kuznetsova 6-5 in the women's singles.
But Aces muscled back into the contest with a 6-2 win in the mixed doubles set, with. Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna getting the better of Dustin Brown and Karolina Pliskova.
Stanislas Wawrinka put Slammers in the lead again with a 6-3 victory over Bernard Tomic in the crucial men's singles contest.
He then continued his impressive form to pair up with Marcelo Melo for men's doubles and won 6-3 against Ivan Dodig and Bopanna to seal the match and the championship in his team's favour.
Slammers received a prize money of $1 million while beaten finalists Indian Aces got $500,000.
