Paving the way for trial, a Delhi court on Wednesday framed charges of murder and kidnapping against six policemen for the alleged custodial death of a man in 2014.

Additional Sessions Judge Sanjay Garg framed charges dealing with kidnapping, murder, destruction of evidence and common intention under the Indian Penal Code against then head constable Bhoop Singh and constables Uttam Kumar, Sudhir Singh, Rajesh Kumar, Rajesh Kumar Yadav and Arvind.

The six were posted in west Delhi's Bindapur police station when the alleged custodial death occurred.

The recording of the statement of the prosecution witnesses in the case will begin from November 7.

The court has said the medical opinion was sufficient for framing murder charge against the policemen.

According to the prosecution, the six policemen picked up victim Manoj from J.J. Colony in Uttam Nagar on May 26, 2014, and took him to an old building in Bindapur.
