The sixth anniversary of 'One Billion Rising' campaign was observed across the country on Sunday, with people supporting the fight against sexual violence against women.

One One Billion Rising is a global movement founded by Eve Ensler to end rape and sexual violence. It was started in 2012.

The Central Park in Connaught Place here buzzed with activity throughout the day as men and women, and children voiced their support for justice and equality through dance, music, theatre and other creative activities, which were organized by civil society organizations.

"We all need to rise to the occasion until violence stops. This war against gender-based violence is no longer just a women's or girls' issue," said Kamla Bhasin, the Regional Coordinator, OBR.

Meenu from Azad Foundation said: "Having performed street plays across settlements and communities it is clear that art and activism can be brought together to raise awareness and consciousness and help countless survivors to heal and feel emotionally cared for."

Speaking on the significance of the OBR Campaign, Kusum, President, All India Network of Sex workers (AINSW), said: "By being part of such an initiative and given the put forth our views we feel honoured and vindicated."
