In the second ceasefire violation from the Pakistani side in as many days, an Indian soldier was injured on Tuesday on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, police said.
The incident took place in Kupwara district's Tangdhar sector.
"The soldier was injured due to sniper fire from the Pakistani side. He has been shifted to an Army base hospital," a police officer added.
On Monday, the Pakistanis had used small arms, automatics and mortars to target Indian positions in Kamalkote area in Jammu and Kashmir's Uri sector. The Indian Army took retaliatory action.
The violations came barely two days after a new civilian government led by cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan was sworn in, raising hopes of better relations between India and Pakistan.
Khan, the chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, took oath as the 22nd Prime Minister of Pakistan on August 18 in Islamabad and vowed to bring the change which he said the country was waiting for long.
