Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Kirit Somaiya on Friday requested the central government to find out whether Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia was correct in his claim that Congress chief Sonia Gandhi's name does not figure in any of the authenticated documents related to the AgustaWestland bribery case.

Reacting to Scindia's speech on the issue in the Lok Sabha, the BJP member asked Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar whether the government had those authenticated records with it.

He also questioned the Congress leader, saying where did he get all those papers from.

Earlier in the day, Scindia quoted the deal's middlemen Christian Michel as saying: "I have never met one single Gandhi ever in my life. Not a letter, not a message, not a mention (their's) in any memo. I am absolutely sure that no money was ever paid to the Gandhis."

He also quoted the judgement passed by the Milan court where Judge Marco Maiga said: "We have no evidence against Sonia Gandhi. Mrs Gandhi has only been indicated as someone who will fly in the VVIP helicopters."
