Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Thursday condoled the death of tabla maestro Pandit Lacchu Maharaj, who passed away in Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh earlier in the day.
Describing him as a frontline exponent of tabla, Gandhi said: "His contributions to classical as well as the popular film genre would forever inspire artistes in the years to come."
She also expressed her solidarity with the bereaved family and admirers of Pandit Lacchu Mahraj.
