Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Friday condoled the death of veteran journalist Dileep Padgaonkar and described him as "an intellectual, historian and a thinker".
Remembering him as an intellectual, historian and thinker, Gandhi said: "Void created by his passing away will be hard to fulfill for he espoused a brand of mature, balanced and unwavering journalism that's gradually hard to find."
She prayed for eternal peace for the departed soul and also expressed her solidarity with family and friends of Padgaonkar in this hour of grief.
Dileep Padgaonkar, veteran journalist, well-known author and former editor of The Times Of India, died at a private hospital in Pune, Maharashtra, on Friday morning, officials said.
He was 72. He was admitted to the Ruby Hospital on November 18 following a massive heart attack.
