South Africa posted a score of 127/5 in their first innings at lunch on the second day of the first cricket Test match against India here on Friday at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium.
Skipper AB de Villiers (26) and Vernon Philander were the two unbeaten batsmen at the crease. The visiting team resumed play at 28/2 on Friday.
They now trail India by 74 runs having scored 99 runs in the session. Off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin picked up the three wickets that fell in the first session.
India posted a score of 201 in their first innings on Thursday.
