The West Bengal government Sunday announced special tourist packages during the coming Durga Puja season to attract more visitors to the state.
At a tourism mega show held here by the state tourism department in collaboration with the CII, special packages like "Udbodhoni" (whole-night pre-puja tour), "Sanatani" (tour to traditional houses of Kolkata where the goddess is worshipped), "Uttara" (day tour to important puja pandals of north Kolkata) and "Dakshini" (day tour to important puja pandals of south Kolkata) were announced.
About 12 tour operators were available at the hotel Ashok for bookings of the special packages.
The tourism department is undertaking intensive efforts to attract more and more tourists to West Bengal during the Durga Puja festival that epitomises the festive flavour and ethos of the state, a senior official said.
