Tourists visiting Fatehpur Sikri, the deserted capital of Mughal emperor Akbar, will soon get to see the statues of the nav-ratnas, the nine jewels of the imperial court.

Agra's Divisional Commissioner Pradeep Bhatnagar has asked the Agra Development Authority to install fibre glass statues of the nine jewels of Akbar's court at vantage points in Fatehpur Sikri, about 30 km from Agra.

"I have seen in many countries how they project and promote the contributions of geniuses and literary giants, but here we do not have such traditions," Bhatnagar told IANS Wednesday.

"I have sought the help of a Chandigarh statue maker, and we are in the process of finalising spots where the statues can be installed with proper canopy and tablets describing in details their contributions to different fields," he added.

"These nine jewels of Akbar are non-controversial. They were the people who helped Akbar evolve and shape his secular ideology."
