Legendary striker Thierry Henry has revealed he would be happy seeing young forward Raheem Sterling plying his trade at Arsenal next season but believes he should show more respect to his current side Liverpool.

Sterling's future at the club is in doubt after the 20-year-old told manager Brendan Rodgers of his desire to leave this summer. The England international is out of contract in 2017 and has so far refused to sign a new deal with his intentions now clear on Merseyside, reports dailymail.co.uk.

Top four rivals Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United have all been linked with a summer move for Sterling. On Tuesday, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger inisisted his squad does not need a major summer overhaul, just some key additions.

"We know he is a Londoner. We all know Arsenal want him from what Arsene (Wenger) was saying yesterday (Tuesday). I think we all know that he is receiving bad advice. You can't go out and talk about your contract in the press. You should respect the fans and club you play for," former Arsenal and Barcelona star Henry said on Wednesday.

"When I was young, I had problems with Real Madrid and Monaco. Some guys put stuff in my head and it affected my game. You can blame the agent/advisor but you need to be a man and say 'enough, you are destroying my life and my career'," the Frenchman said.

"He is a great product of Liverpool and for England and I'd be more than happy to see him at Arsenal."
