Finance Minister P. Chidambaram Monday said that subsidies bill for food, fertilisers and fuel for 2014-15 will be slightly more than the revised estimates for 2013-14.
"The expenditure on subsidies for food, fertilizer and fuel will be Rs.246,397 crore. This is slightly more than the revised estimate of Rs.245,452 crore in 2013-14," Chidambaram said in his interim budget for 2014-15 presented to the Lok Sabha.
According to Chidambaram, an allocation of Rs.65,000 crore has been made for fuel subsidy, and Rs.115,000 crore allocated for food subsidy.
Fertiliser subsidies are pegged at Rs.67,970 crore.
